A BIG Thank You to The National Lottery Community Fund!

'Painting for Pleasure' celebrates after receiving £34,920 from the National Lottery Fund to help adults living with disability and illness.

Local community art group ‘Painting for Pleasure’ is today celebrating after being awarded almost £35,000 in National Lottery funding to support its work reducing isolation of vulnerable adults in the community, including carers. The group, based at the Westbury Centre, Kingsway, South Leamington, will use the cash to run weekly art sessions, trips & exhibitions for local adults.

Painting for Pleasure has been running since 1995, has recently become a charity, and is run by a committee of members. The funding provides two art sessional workers to help members achieve their full artistic potential.
This Lottery project is called 'Individuals Together'. The whole emphasis is to get participants to socialise, make friends, and create imaginative artworks encouraging members to go beyond their perceived limits. The classes run for one day a week on a Wednesday during the school term, with separate morning and afternoon sessions.

The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest funder of community activity in the UK, will mean 'Painting for Pleasure' can provide regular art sessions for the next three years.
At the same time, the group will be able to put on exhibitions of members' work giving individuals greater confidence whilst promoting the group in the wider community.

Jayne Canning, Chair of painting for pleasure, says: "We’re glad to be back and are both delighted and grateful that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work and has supported us in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to press on with our plans to help reduce isolation for local people".

About The National Lottery Community Fund

We are the largest community funder in the UK – we’re proud to award money raised by National Lottery players to communities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. National Lottery players raise £30 million each week for good causes throughout the UK. Since June 2004, we have made over 200,000 grants and awarded over £9 billion to projects that have benefited millions of people.

We are passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that when people are in the lead, communities thrive. Thanks to the support of National Lottery players, our funding is open to everyone. We’re privileged to be able to work with the smallest of local groups right up to UK-wide charities, enabling people and communities to bring their ambitions to life.
